Background
Timorese children suffer from various disadvantage situations due to the various reasons, including, economical disadvantage and conflict which very much affect to Timorese children and many of their families. Orphanage Saint Bakhita presence is to protect children of those lost both of their parents, lost father, lost mother or one his/her parents are handicapped psychically or psychologically.
ORPHANAGE SAINT BAKHITA is a charity organization establish by a group of women leaders of clandestine group base in Becora. It was first time established on 21 April 2000 to serve around 12 children of orphanage, register to FORUM OF NGO in 2001, Ministry Solidarity Social and Ministry of Justice as organization collecting orphan child, providing education aid for level of elementary school and high school. Through this orphan organization, the stakeholder from Santa Bakhita have shown their responsibility in promotion children rights and crate a good environment to children can comunicate each which their family. Santa Bakhita give opportunity to orphan children get formal education dan develop theirself by various skill.
Santa Bakhita runs important program how to send orphan children which do not have ability for school to get formal education. Santa bakhita also try to look for organization or individual which support their program. Till year 2007, Santa Bakhita has send 27 child to school. Even these children of have overage but they have high willingness to be able to finish their school.

Through Orphanage Saint Bakhita, we can express our commitment and fight for protection of abandoned children and orphans.
Our Mission,
In pursuit our vision, Orphanage Saint Bachita engages in three (3) interrelated components of programs:
· Child Safe Home
· Child Care and Protection
· Child Development and Participation.
Our Goals
· 50 orphan children can get safety house, nough food, clothes and others.
· 50 orphan children can get formal education and develop their ability
The Program
To be able for implementation of this organization, Orphanage Santa Bakhita run 3 program namely:
· Child Protection Program
· Child Development Program
· Child Participation Program.
Santa Bakhita’s staff work as voluntary to be able to fulfill requirement needed by orphan children. Until December 2007, counted 28 orphan child stay in this reformatory. They consist of 13 daughter and 15 man. All of these children has get formal education nowadays in basic education, junior and senior high school. Several child choose to working after graduated from high school to continue education on university.

Informal school program :
- Courses of English and of Portugues language on basic level (age 8 – 13) : 11 children
- Courses of English and of Portugues language on basic level (age 14 – 18) : 10 children
Others activities :
- Coresponden with others child from Japan, Portugal and Australia
- Courses of playing keyboard and guitar including singing course
