Asia Pacific Support Collective Timor-Leste (APSC-TL)

Background organization:

Asia Pacific Support Collective Timor - Leste was formed in Dili in June 2000 by 6 Timorese women. As an NGO comprising of all women, APSCTL centers its work whit grassroots organizations focusing on women’s empowerment, development and culture. Given the position of women in society, women’s group and organizations have found it difficult to access the sources of funding available in East Timor over the last 16 months. APSCTL has been providing logistic support, advice and training to these organizations and desires to increase its capacity in order to provide the range of services required to assist women to increase their skill and earning potential, to empower the safety of and political voice of women and to contribute to their active participation in the building of peace within East Timor.

Vision :

Our country Timor-Leste is led by committed, honest and competent leaders, where the rule of law is above everyone, people are happy and safe, & people are healthy, economically stable, strive for higher learning; above all people are united. “One People, One Nation”.

Mission :

  • Ensure access of youth in formal & non formal education
  • Ensure the Veterans stories is integrated as part of our history for new generation
  • To guarantee the involvement of women in income generation activities.

Goals :

  • 50 students able to finalize their studies in formal & non formal education
  • Next 3 years our target able to be self reliant and able to compete in business.
  • Next 3 years the Veterans stories should be in a book & publish, then use in the schools as a reference of our history.

OBJECTIVES :

  • To encourage the students to finalize their studies on time
  • Able to play a key role in government and civil society.
  • To know the role and the contribution of women’s during the resistance.
  • To disseminate all the stories around the country.
  • To use as an evidence in judicial system.
  • To train target to be a business women
  • Able to understand the needs of consuming
  • Able to market their products.
PROGRAMS :

Scholarship for Young Women
Recently APSC-TL has 10 Secondary tudents and 9 Universities students .

Writing a Book of Veterans
APSC-TL already collected 12 storytellers then compile into a book. This book will publish and serve than use as a reference and an evidence in Judicial systems for those who needed.

Enterprise Small Skill Business
APSC-TL has three Cooperative groups: Bobometo, Koperativa Tais Timor, and Hametin Feto Faluk. They have their own activities in the community specifically focus on Tais and weaving. Because they a motto: ”Weaving renders life to the children and the coming generation! Weaving is the Timorese culture!”

Peace Building Educating and Training.
APSC-TL had provide the training on peace building to 7 groups
in two district Bobonaro and Covalima. APSC-TL will provide
more training to the women on ADR so women can involve more
in peace building.
